The Best of Hope Foye - Soundtrack

The Best of Hope Foye - Soundtrack
The first-ever recordings released of Hope Foye's legendary musical career that span two continents. Foye's voice leaves listeners wondering why they were deprived of her talent in America. Called a "communist" and blacklisted after being interrogated by the Senate McCarran Committee during the McCarthy era of the 1940s and 1950s, for singing out for peace and justice, Foye (with the help of great civil rights activists, W.E.B. Du Bois and his musically talented wife Shirley Graham, Paul Robeson, author and writer Albert Maltz, of the Hollywood 10, and others) moved to Mexico, becoming the first black female musical television star. Living in Mexico for 10 years as a concert soprano, Foye moved to Europe, studying and training to become a classical opera soprano.

This historical collection of music sung by Hope in 2009 and her classic songs of the 1950s and 1970s of ballads, spirituals, opera, protest songs, and lullabies in English, Spanish, French, and German allows the listener to experience the best of Hope Foye's mellifluous voice that projects an emotional, soulful clarity that is rarely heard.
